This section contains a Eyelash Extension FAQ's, preparation considerations and aftercare advice.
If you have never had an eyelash extensions treatment with Pamper Room before or if it is over 6 months since your last set or test, you must have a patch test done 48 hours prior to the treatment. A patch test will be done in order to be sure that you do not have an adverse reaction to the glue I use.
Things to look out for following a patch test: If you experience redness, swelling of the eyelid, irritation, any pain, itching or burning, blotchy, hot or any kind of eye discomfort you may be allergic to the products I have used. Please wash the area with cold water, contact me so I can remove the product and if irritation persists you may want to consult a medical professional.
During your treatment application:
* You will also be required to lay on your back for the duration of your extension procedure, we ask that you stay as still as possible, should you need to make a large movement that you advise your therapist before doing so as we are using sharp tools near your eyes and we wouldn’t want to harm you.
* The therapist will carefully apply under-eye pads and micro-pore tape on your bottom lids in order to separate your top eyelashes from the bottom ones.
* You will be required to keep your eyes closed during the extension procedure, if you open your eyes there is risk that the fumes from the adhesive may cause your eyes to water, this can cause the bond between the synthetic lash and your natural lash to fail and shedding will occur prematurely. You may also experience reddening of the eyeball, this can take a few days to settle down.
* Individual lashes or volume fan lashes will be attached to one of your natural eyelashes with an adhesive. If at any time during the treatment you experience any discomfort please tell us.
* Please see the individual treatment for application time as this is determined by the set you are having done.
After your treatments.
* Please note that although we carry out patch tests there is still a small risk of an allergic reaction, should you experience any eye discomfort please contact us and have the eyelashes removed immediately. You may need to contact a medical professional.
* We work to the highest hygiene standards but in rare cases and not associated with Pamper Room eye infection may occur. If you should experience this, you must see a medical professional, you may also need to have your eyelash extensions removed.
Shedding & Infills:
If cared for appropriately your Eyelash extensions will fall out with your natural lashes as they go through their natural shedding cycle, in total this can be 6-8 weeks… However the average person has between 90-120 natural lashes per eye (upper lid) and we aim to lash these all at the time of a full set. Each eye sheds approx. 2-5 lashes every day - so let's say on average you loss 3 a day!
* In one week you will lose 21 lashes from each eye
* 2 weeks - 42 lashes
* 3 weeks - 63 lashes
As you naturally shed your lashes and attached extension, gradually gaps will be formed, this is when you need an infills. Infills should be carried out every 2-4 weeks to maintain your desired full effect
An infill should consist of at least 50% of your extension remaining, any less than this will either require a half set or new set.
We advise that you book your infill appointment at the time of your full set as we can get very busy!
After Care:
Please follow the advice below to ensure your lashes remain looking good and last as long as possible.
* For the first 8 hours after application do not allow water to contact lashes, including rain and tears!
* For the first 48 hours after application please avoid face steaming, a steam bath and steam rooms, washing your face with hot water, swim, using a hot tub, saunas or Jacuzzi’s.
* Be gentle with your lashes, avoid touching, over brushing or rubbing your eyes and pat them dry after cleansing etc.
* Try to avoid sleeping with your face in your pillow as you may tug or crush your lashes.
* Do not allow harsh heat sources close to your extensions like hair dryers, styling irons or other heat source as heat may harm your
lashes.
* Do not allow oil based products to come in contact with your lashes, please check your make-up remover, cleansers and make-up content. Using oil based products will affect the bonding of the lashes and cause premature shedding.
* We advise against using mascara, but should you wish to please purchase a specially formulated mascara from Pamper Room. We also have eyeliners available.
* Correct cleansing of your lashes will help your extension last longer, we have cleaning kits available to purchase.
* Do not perm or tint lash extensions.
* Do not use an eyelash curler as this will break the lash extension and the natural eyelash.
* Do not pull, tug or attempt to remove your eyelash extensions yourself as you’ll also lose your natural eyelashes too.
* Lashes should only be removed by a professionally with a solution that dissolves the adhesive.
* To ensure the long lasting of your lashes regular maintenance is required, I recommend that you schedule an infill appointment no later than 3 weeks following your initial eyelash extension application, and then every 2-4 weeks to keep them looking stunning!
* If you use on a regular basis it is recommended that you allow your natural eyelash to breath for 2 weeks every 6 months.
* If you experience red, blotchy, hot or irritated skin you may need your lashes removing due to an allergic reaction please contact me immediately. You may also need to consult your GP.
* If you have any concerns about your lashes within the first 48 hours please contact me. Some shedding each day is a natural process due to your own lash re-growth.
